Perfect Tailgate Recipe

It ‘s October which means it ‘s time for a change of season.

If you think we ‘re talking about Autumn, go back to your pumpkin spice paradise, pal – it ‘s football season! And we celebrate football season with the traditional rite of passage called “The Perfect Tailgate. ‘

There are a lot of elements that go into crafting the Perfect Tailgate but none more important than having the perfect food. Luckily, our friends at Soy Vay have given us the best wing recipe in the world. Follow this simple recipe below for a sticky, tangy plate full of wonder that will have your guests remembering your party so fondly, they ‘ll forget what the score of the game was!*

*JK – NEVER forget the score. Remember the immortal words of my high school football coach: “Never forget the score. ‘

Veri Veri Teryiaki Wings Ingredients:

1 cup flour (NOT flowers. You ‘d be surprised how many people screw this part up)

1 Tbsp. salt

1 Tbsp. black pepper

1 tsp. paprika

1 tsp. cayenne pepper (did you know cayenne is a nightshade? Well, now you do. You ‘re welcome.)

1 tsp. garlic powder

20-30 raw chicken wings (unfortunately pegasus wings are illegal in most states) vegetable oil or shortening for frying – Dealer ‘s choice!

1 Tbsp. butter 1/3 cup Soy Vay ‘ Veri Veri Teriyaki ‘

1 tsp. sesame seeds, for garnish (yes, garnish. Have a lil ‘ class!)

Prep – the pregame of cooking

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, pepper, paprika, cayenne pepper and garlic powder. It ‘s like a huddle of spices.
  2. Roll each of the wings in the mixture until they ‘re evenly coated. You know all about even coverage; your fantasy football Defense, however, does not.
  3. Place the wings in a shallow dish (or a philosophical dish, no judgement) or resealable plastic container. Cover, and let the meat chill in the fridge for 1 hour. Never cook an angry meat, always let it chill.
  4. Option Route: After the chicken is done chilling, you can coat the wings with seasoning a second time for even more flavor. Double Coverage! Something your fantasy quarterback knows too much about.
  5. Heat the vegetable oil in a large frying pan over medium-high heat. Hooray, it ‘s like you ‘re a witch about to make a chicken potion!

Cook

  1. In a medium size saucepan, combine butter and Veri Veri Teriyaki sauce over medium heat. Veri veri medium heat.
  2. Stir the sauce occasionally until mixture is melted and thickens slightly; about 5 minutes. Use this time to disagree with any pre-game coverage that predicts your team will lose.
  3. Deep-fry the wings until cooked through and crispy, about 10 minutes. Make sure the meat reaches an internal temperature of at least 165 ‘F. Fun fact: This is also the internal temperature of most head coaches on game day.
  4. As you finish frying the wings, add them to the saucepan and toss until evenly coated. You ‘ll know the wings are evenly coated when they are coated evenly. Isn ‘t cooking fun?
  5. Arrange the wings on a platter (optional: arrange as your favorite offensive formation) and garnish with sesame seeds. Serve immediately. We said immediately! Get your head in the game, kid! They need you out there!
